To celebrate the launch of their new Badgley Mischka Couture fragrance, designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka hosted a private event yesterday at New York’s Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. The perfume’s debut also marks the 20th anniversary of the Badgley Mischka brand, and so the designing duo wanted the scent to be just right: ”There were no shortcuts—I have a low tolerance for fragrance,” says Badgley. ”James owns thousands of them, but I’ve never owned one in my life,” he adds with a laugh. After 200 incarnations, Badgley and Mischka finally found their favorite. The final result is a floriental woody scent that can be worn on or off the red carpet. ”We wanted the fragrance to envelop the wearer like a gown and make them feel like they were wearing couture ,” says Mischka. ”There’s a red carpet moment for every woman at some stage in her life, and fragrance is an affordable luxury.” ”We’re inspired by Old Hollywood—it’s a constant source of inspiration replica prada ,” adds Badgley. ”When you watch the women—Grace, Betty, Katharine—on the screen, you can almost smell them.” However, when it comes to today’s Hollywood starlets, Badgley is coy. ”We can’t reveal who we’re dressing for the Oscars, but we do have a lady who’s up for Best Actress,” he says.
